The
Açores is a group of nine* volcano islands, belonging to Portugal.
They are located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean between Europe
and North America on a parallel with Lisbon at a latitude of 39 43'/36
55' N.
Terceira
is the second largest island at the Açores (The tourist island São Miguel
is the biggest). Terceira offer stronge naturexperiences. The landscape
is amazing with magnificent views, green fields, volcanic
craters, forest areas, caves and a floral splendour.

The island
has an area of 381.96 km2, its length is 29 km and
its maximum width 17.5 km.
People live in small village further the coast. The central area
of the island consists of hills, volcanic craters and small lakes.
Angra do heroísmo, in the south, is the capital. The town is
in
the UNESCOs list of World patrimony. Angras architecture,
churches, palaces and museum take the visitors back to 1600- and 1700
century. De second largest town is Praia da Vitória, situated
at the east coast of the island. One of the islands two sand beaches
are situates in Praia. Otherwise it is good opportunities to swim at
Terceira, in natural pools. The water is clean and many people swim
all around the year. In the water there are also whales and dolphines.
