Algar
do Carvão
is famous for its' grottoes that reach a depth
of 100 meters. These spectacular grottoes contain stalactites, stalagmites
and an interior lake.
Angra
do Heroísmo
offer a lot of sights as the beautiful cathedral and other colourful
churches, the fortress of São Filipe, the majesty Town Hall,
convent of São Francisco (museum), the fortress of São
Sebastião, the beautiful Jardim público (botanic garden)
and of course Monte Brasil, the volcano and natur reserve with an amazing
view over
the ocean and the city. A
very nice place for recreation an resting! The São João
Baptista do Monte Brasil Fort,
is a large, fortified wall 4 km long.
There are also many nice resturants with fish and meat in Angra. Nighttime
you can play bowling, visit bars or go to one of the two discos outside
town, Twins and Wolf. At the Cultural Center they have a bar, a cinema
and they also arrange conserts.
Biscoitos
in the north has a wine
museum were you can buy vine. The village also have a nice swiming area
and one popular italian resturant.
Bullfights
(with roaps) on the streets are an unique, tradititional festivities
of the island. Every house in the village of the bullfight are open
for everyone. With joy, friendliness and hospitality people invite others
for typical food and home made bear and vine.

used when they catched whales.

de Santa Bárbara is the highest point of the island (1021
mtrs).
Serreta
is a village with an fantastic picnic park outside. Its also a flower
reserv.
